Message from OTEC Executive Director

Message from our Executive Director Lorie Mitchell

To OTEC family, friends and participants

It is with mixed emotions that I officially announce my retirement as of May 31, 2024, as executive director of the Oromocto Training & Employment Centre Inc.

It has been an amazing journey lasting 43 years with an agency that I will cherish forever. The staff and participants have become family to me, and I will truly miss our days together.

I first started as 1 of 3 staff and 9 participants teaching basic life skills and crafts such as ceramics, sewing and social outings within the community.

Over the years I have taken on the role of executive director and moved our agency into the business sector of Oromocto on Restigouche Rd., thus becoming more visible to the employment part of the community. OTEC has expanded to 25 staff, 50 plus participants, and a waiting list of individuals wishing to receive services from our agency.

OTEC has been well received by both the employment sector and community partners who continue to support our staff and participants. I anticipate continued growth and possibly new business ventures which will expand OTEC’s visibility and value within the community for many years to come.

Lastly, I would like to recognize OTEC’s board of directors and thank them for the support they have given me over the past years. Your guidance and direction were truly appreciated and valued.

I wish the best to everyone and continued growth in all your future endeavors.

Very Respectfully,

Lorie Mitchell
