Oromocto Training & Employment Centre Inc. (OTEC) Career Opportunity

Who is OTEC: OTEC is a non – profit agency which promotes inclusion for persons with cognitive and physical disabilities. Our main focus is to assist individuals in reaching their full potential in becoming independent members of their community, socially and, whenever possible, through employment.

Position: Executive Director

OTEC is searching for an Executive Director who is an enthusiastic leader, can identify priorities and objectives, work as a TEAM with managers and frontline staff, build and maintain relationships within the business community and various stakeholders, and ensure the organization’s financial and organizational viability.

Start Date: May 1, 2024

Job types: Full Time, Permanent

Schedule: 8 plus hours (Monday to Friday/ some evening and weekend promotional events)

Wage: $55,000 to $65,000, some benefits included.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Certified Human Service Counselor or equivalent
  • 5 plus years experience in a managerial position in an operational environment.
  • Human Resource Management certificate with 2 years experience
  • Leadership and management skills
  • Public speaking skills
  • Ability to Multitask
  • Knowledge and experience using simply accounting program.

Assets: Bilingualism

Ideal Candidate:

As the ideal candidate, you must have post secondary training in the Human Service Field with 5 plus years of career progression in management. You should possess strong verbal and written communications and have the confidence to build and maintain relations with great value. Able to make sound decisions in ambiguous situations and plan actions to fit strategy.

Possess a legal driver licence.

The candidate will submit to a criminal record check and vulnerable sector record check.

Finally, the ideal candidate must effectively and passionately communicate the agency’s mission and focus to rally others around the cause.

Message from our Executive Director
OTEC’S ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING JUNE 15, 2023

Master of Ceremonies and board chair Randy smith welcomed everyone to the event.

OTEC’S Annual financial review was presented by JoAnn Sonier-Boyd, OTEC’s board treasurer.

Lorie Mitchell, OTEC’s executive director presented the year 2022/2023 in review of the agency.

Emphasis was on the continued support of the Community and surrounding during COVID years, however we were very grateful to be able to reconnect in person with our community this past year.

OTEC restarted their monthly fundraising breakfasts as well as reopened their kitchen rental service to the community.

OTEC’S employment program continued to seek out potential new employment positions for their participants, as well as giving back to the community through volunteering at various non profit establishments such as the Oromocto Food Bank and the Oromocto Public Library.

Recognition awards were also presented to the following recipients:

CFB Gagetown Base Fire Department – Employer of the year
Debbie Middlemas and Colleen Knowles – 20 years of service
Silvia Keddy – Above and beyond
Finally, Executive Director, Lorie Mitchell officially announced her retirement date of May 31, 2023 after 44 years of dedicated employment with OTEC.

OTEC Monthly Fundraising Breakfast

OTEC’s monthly fundraising breakfasts will be held on Saturday November 25th, 2017. Breakfasts are held at 286 Restigouche Road Oromocto, NB. Please use entrance doors facing the Legion.

Time: 8:00-11:00AM

Cost: $6.00 per adult/ $3.00 for children under 12 years
